3 Common Brow Mistakes

Whether it’s a result of over plucking as a teen, confusion at so many brow products available now or just plain lack of artistry, making our brows Insta-worthy without a professional can be tricky. The difference between a bad home job and a beautiful professional brow is huge.

Great brows are usually a combination of a trip to the salon maintained with some careful homecare in between visits. Here are three things to avoid when you’re at home in your bathroom.

1. Tadpole brows –

Too much weight at the front followed by a thin tail isn’t flattering for anyone. It’s an odd balance which will draw attention to your brows for the wrong reasons.

How to fix:

It may be the result of over-plucking when younger, or just the brow hair not growing as much as it used to. Either way, never accentuate the issue by focussing on the fuller bit. Instead focus on filling out the thin tail. A good pencil or brow tinting product to fill in the thin ends is the first thing to do. Also try using a brow strengthener morning and night to see if it makes a difference to the hair growth. If it doesn’t, microblading may be something you want to consider.

2. Arch in the wrong place –

an arch that is too far forward or too far back can change the shape of your face and make the eyes look smaller.

How to fix:
To find where your arch ideally should be, take an eyebrow pencil and starting at the corner of the nose, hold the pencil straight up. This is where your brow should start. If it starts in the right place your nose will look slimmer.
Mark the point with a dot of pencil. Then for the arch, hold the pencil at the corner of the nose and angle it through the centre of the eye. This is where your brow should arch. If it’s in the correct place, your eyes look wider and bigger.

3. Wrong Colour

A lot of the brow products on the market are too warm toned as our brows are almost always cool toned.

How to fix

Our pencils and brow tint have all been created to have cool undertones which make them universally flattering. It’s also better to go one shade lighter than darker as the eyes will look prettier.
